You can send and receive email using your PAMI account. Your email address takes the following form:
< |
You can read your e-mail using any of the following methods:
Using a web browser, go to http://pami.uwaterloo.ca/horde/
and enter your username and
password to login. Other functions are available
through this web interface. If you prefer a more secure way of
accessing your email over the web, you can use this link instead
https://pami.uwaterloo.ca/horde/
(This is a secure HTTPS link, so you should not worry about sending
your password over the Internet.)
Using a Windows email
client like Outlook, Outlook
Express, Eudora,
Netscape Messenger, or Mozilla
Thunderbird. The settings to access your e-mail are as
follows:
Incoming Mail Server (POP or IMAP): pami.uwaterloo.ca
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): pami.uwaterloo.ca
(please make sure you specify to your mail client that the SMTP server requires authentication)
This outgoing mail server address will work only
on-campus. If you are off-campus, you need to set the outgoing
mail server to your ISP's outgoing mail server (for Bell
Sympatico this should be smtp1.sympatico.ca, for Rogers
this should be just smtp). This is to prevent
spammers from using our mail servers to relay their spam.
Using the UNIX email
client pine. You need to remotely login to
one of the Solaris machines
using telnet, ssh, or
rlogin, and run pine at
the command prompt. We have a terminal emulator program installed
called PuTTY. You can run it from this
location:
\\pami-xeon\software\tools\putty.exe
