Session Chairs

Instructions for Presenters

Thank you for your patience. Your session chairs will be in touch shortly, additional questions should be directed towards the session chairs.

  • Oral Presenters: The oral presentations will be 15 minutes each, including questions. Please use your own laptop to present your slides, and meet the session chair at least 10 minutes before the session to test that it works with the projector. It is a good idea to have a backup copy of your slides on a USB stick or online.
  • Poster Presenters: If your FIRST name starts with A-L, you are in the first sesssion 11:05-12:05, please set up your poster before 8:45 am on the day of the workshop, and remove it at the end of the session. If your first name starts with M-Z, please set up your poster during lunch, between 12:05 and 13:05, and remove it by 17:00. Poster pins will be provided. Posters remaining after 18:00 will be discarded. Each poster board is 4 feet (120cm) high and 8 feet (240cm) wide. Plan your poster to fit this space. Identify your poster near the top of the panel with title and name(s)of investigator(s). All typefaces and graphics on the poster should be large enough to be read comfortably from distances of four to five feet. A well-designed poster clearly states the main problem and contribution and guides the viewer through the presentation. Printouts of slides do not make a good poster. A matte finish on your poster materials will give better visibility under the glare from lights.
  • Small Group Discussions: These are held simultaneously in parallel with the poster sessions, alphabetically the same way as the poster presenters. Prepare at most three presentation slides and a short overview of your research. There will be a chance to disucss the slides and answer questions. Please send your slides to your session chair, who will be in contact shortly. Please bring your own laptop. It is a good idea to have a backup copy of your slides on a USB stick or online.

Workshop Registration

  • Registration for the workshop is free - you do not need to sign up for the NIPS workshops to attend WiML.
  • However note that WiML registration does not include registration for the NIPS conference or NIPS workshops.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided on the workshop day.
  • Registration is now closed, if you registered please remember to confirm your registration promptly.

Mentoring Match Up

This year WIML will also be coordinating a 1-to-1 mentoring match up where participants can meet up with a mentor during a mutually convenient time during NIPS. This is a great opportunity to meet for a single session with a more experienced colleague and get career advice, or share advice with more junior female machine learning colleague.
