Engineering Areas of Interest: Intelligent Systems Design and Soft Computing Cognitive Robotics and Intelligent Man Machine Interaction Autonomous Systems and MultiAgent Approaches Concept extraction and Natural Speech Multi Modal Information Retrieval Research Statement: Professor Karray’s
current research interests are in the areas of autonomous robotics, natural
speech recognition, concept extraction and intelligent man-machine
interfacing. Methodological approaches are based on Karray's
research in the fields of autonomous design of complex systems, approximate
reasoning, soft computing and tools of computational intelligence.
Applications include autonomous robotics design, real time distributed
systems, communication networks and natural speech understanding. He is the
co-author of a recent textbook on soft computing: Soft Computing and
Intelligent Systems Design , Addison Wesley
Publishing, 2004, and the associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on
SMC(B), the IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics, the IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine, the
International Journal of Robotics and Automation, the Journal of Control
and Intelligent Systems, and the Journal of Advances in AI. Address:
